25 Years of Advocacy, Love, and Growth: A Milestone Worth Celebrating

25 Years of Advocacy, Love, and Growth: A Milestone Worth Celebrating

This year, My Guys turn 25.

Twenty-five years. A quarter of a century of love, growth, and relentless advocacy. It’s a milestone that feels as significant as any birthday or holiday—a moment to reflect on the journey we’ve shared and the challenges we’ve overcome together.

Reflecting on Our Journey

They were born at just 33.5 weeks—small but healthy—and from the very beginning, they’ve been teaching me about resilience and unconditional love. Being their mom hasn’t always been easy, but it has always been worth it. Over the years, I’ve fought for their needs, their rights, and their future. Advocacy became second nature to me—a role I embraced before I even realized it would define much of my life.

I remember a friend once congratulating me on the anniversary of becoming a mom on one of their birthdays. At the time, it felt like such an unexpected but sweet sentiment. In hindsight, I see it as an acknowledgment of the strength and dedication that motherhood demands—a celebration not just of their lives, but of the bond we share and the journey we’ve walked together.

Taking Time for Myself

It’s interesting how my trip to France next year has fallen into place. I wasn’t planning it around their 25th birthday, but somehow, it all aligns. After spending so many years focused on their needs and their future, this trip feels like the right moment to step back and focus on myself for a change.

It’s a reminder that even amidst advocacy and caregiving, it's okay to prioritize myself too. My trip has become a way to honor the past 25 years of dedication and the growth it has brought me.

As I prepare for this long overdue break, I know that taking time and space for myself isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. It’s how I can return to My Guys refreshed and re-centered, ready to continue our journey together.
