July Capsule Wardrobe: Wearing What I Own & Letting Go With Intention

It’s been just over a year since I started my Merino wool “less is more” journey, and I can honestly say it’s shifted the way I approach my entire wardrobe. (You can read more about how it started here.) What began as a fabric experiment turned into a practical system that helps me actually use what I own.My July capsule keeps that same focus. Every piece in it is something I reach for often—and if I find myself skipping over something month after month, that’s a signal it might be time to let it go.

What’s in My July Capsule

  • Tops: A mix of Merino tees & cotton gauze tops
  • Leggings: All Merino comfortable and easy to wear, even in the heat.
  • Cardigans: Lightweight Merino layers for indoors or early mornings.
  • Dresses: Cotton gauze and linen blends that are easy to throw on and wear for running errands or lunch with friends
  • Bottoms: linen and denim
  • Shoes & Accessories: comfy sandals and stylish supportive sneakers

Why I Build Monthly Capsules

I build a capsule each month to make sure I’m actually wearing what I own. If something isn’t being worn, I notice. And if I still don’t wear it after a while, I sell.

This keeps my closet functional and helps me avoid clutter. It also shows me where the gaps are (if any), and reminds me not to keep things around “just in case.”

What I’ve Learned from Slow Fashion

Choosing natural fabrics especially Merino wool, cotton gauze, and linen has helped me simplify what I wear without feeling like I’m missing anything. These materials hold up to repeated wear, feel good in warm weather, and don’t need constant replacing.

And when something no longer works for me? I resell it for at least half of what I paid. That’s a major difference compared to fast fashion, where most pieces lose all value almost immediately.

Final Thoughts

This capsule is less about variety and more about using what I already have. If I’m not reaching for it now, I probably won’t later. And that’s okay.

A monthly capsule helps me see what I’m really wearing and gives me permission to let go of the rest.
