November is National Caregiver Month, a time when many will express their gratitude to caregivers. But as someone living this reality every day, I can’t help but think beyond the “thank you” messages. In 2016, I left my job—not because I wanted to, but because the support my family needed just wasn’t there. I haven’t been able to return to work since, and like many full-time caregivers, I didn’t choose this path; life chose it for me.
Caregiving isn’t a temporary situation for so many of us. It’s our full-time reality, one without days off, vacations, or easy solutions. I’m not here to sugarcoat it—it’s hard. The conversations this month often overlook the emotional toll, the isolation, and the exhaustion caregivers face, long after the awareness campaigns end.
So this November, I’m not asking for recognition. I’m asking for better systems, more support, and real change. Caregiving is relentless, but it doesn’t have to feel so isolating. If you know a caregiver, don’t just say “thank you”—ask what they need, and mean it. We deserve more than appreciation; we deserve action.
Just in Time for National Caregiver Month: My New eBook
With all this in mind, I’m excited to share my new eBook, Finding Peace in the Chaos of Autism Parenting. This resource isn’t about behaviors or services—it’s about practical, day-to-day support for caregivers. It’s packed with real-life strategies to lighten the caregiving load and reclaim some time and energy for ourselves.
This eBook includes:
- Tips on building a reliable support network
- Strategies for automating and outsourcing to reduce stress
- Action plans for organizing daily routines and tasks
- Simple, realistic self-care ideas because we all know it’s needed
Plus, with lifetime access to resources via Google Drive, you’ll always have tools, checklists, and updates at your fingertips. This is my way of giving back to a community that rarely gets the practical support it needs.
