Rainy Day Favorites: Practical Picks for Wet Weather Days

Rainy Day Favorites: Practical Picks for Wet Weather Days

Rainy days call for gear that keeps you dry and comfortable. I’ve recently refreshed my essentials with a new jacket and umbrella, but I’m still figuring out the best practical footwear for wet weather. While I love my Hunter boots for heavy downpours, they’re not always the easiest to wear or take off—especially if I plan on keeping them on all day. As much as I love them, they’re not always a practical choice.

Jacket: A Packable Solution

The Pack-It Jacket from Coldwater Creek in Harbor Teal has quickly become my go-to for wet weather. It’s lightweight, water-resistant, and folds into its own pocket, making it very convenient to pack and carry. The teal color is a nice change from my standard black, but what I really love is how practical it is. This jacket will definitely come in handy during my trip to France, where rainy days are a possibility.

Umbrella: Compact and Dependable

A compact umbrella that doesn’t compromise on durability is a must-have, especially when preparing for travel. The Davek Mini Umbrella in Plum fits the bill perfectly. Its compact size is ideal for tossing in a bag, and I couldn’t resist the plum color for something unique. It’s also highly rated for wind resistance, making it a solid investment for both everyday use and unpredictable weather abroad.

Footwear: Still Searching for the Perfect Pair

For rainy days, I have my trusty Hunter boots, however, they aren’t the easiest to wear for extended periods or for travel days when space and convenience matter. My old boots from Target, now live in the garage, and good only for quick outdoor tasks.

I’m currently searching for a versatile pair of rain boots that strike the right balance: waterproof, comfortable for all-day wear, and practical enough to pack for trips. I’d love to find something that can handle long walks on wet cobblestones while still being easy to slip on and off.

What’s your go-to rainy-day gear? If you have a favorite pair of rain boots, I’d love to hear about them!
